Partner that with the deepest of longings in my heart to re-examine my call as my faith community tries to re-think how we do ministry. So here I am.

I used to be on the other side of this debate that we call free market economy. I had it good, to understate things a bit. Not so much that I had to worry weather or not the FDIC will cover me, mind you, but I got by on more than I needed and wasted more than my fair share of resources.
I squandered what I had, hit rock bottom financially and in the process figured out who I am in the deepest, soul-searching way. Having nothing more to lose, I asked God to remove the scales from my eyes and to show me a different way, the way of love. Now that I see, I can not un-know what I know. Those that I left on the other side of the debate think I have sold out, that I enable others to rely on the safety-net systems of our society. I pray that one day that they can see things as they really are.....

I have been trying to figure out how my call is changing as I am struggling through a spiritual dry spell. Trying to make a difference in the lives of all that I meet in the midst of this time of great uncertainty that we all are facing, some of us ridiculously more so than others. In the midst of this train wreck that we call free market democracy, we are bound in chains and are waiting for something other than excrement to trickle down, yet hope springs forth in what might be. How will I instill hope in others?

Still Kicking -- Just way too busy

I just wanted my friends to know that I am alive and well, just still very busy with the following:

1) Work -- this is the worst month of the year for me. UGH
2) The Move -- We are moved in, but we still have lots of boxes and we are working on the outside of the house -- gardens, yard, painting the exterior of the house, etc.
3) Addie -- She has more good days than bad, but her cancer is progressing, and we have been told to expect that the end will come suddenly -- so while we no longer believe she can beat this cancer, we are doing our best to keep her as healthy as possible so that she enjoys what time she has left.
4)Softball -- we started softball for the season. We play on Mondays and Thursdays, so this is taking up alot of time, but it is really my only true source of fitness, other than the lifting and emptying boxes, and moving topsoil and mulch :)

Hope all of the RevGals and Pals are doing well. Perhaps it is because of Sunday's gospel message of the talents. We are gven gifts that must be shared others. Our inheritance has nothing to do with property. We do not "own" anything, but everything is given to us by God. We get caught up so much in church finances and the building. This congregation is listening to the "Still Speaking God". The death of one congregation provides for the ressurection of God's pople through the new caretakers. May this congregation experience the resurrection of Christ through this act of stewardship. Theirs is the inheritance that God has waiting for them.

RevGal Friday Five

1) Apple Pie -- I prefer apple dumplings to apple pie, but the apples must be tart and both must be warm and buried under vanilla bean ice cream

2) Cherry Pie -- not too crazy about cherry pie, but again the cherries must be sour/tart. I prefer a pie called "bumbleberry", which is a mixed berry pie, heavy on the raspberries.

3) Pumpkin Pie -- a holiday favorite, best enjoyed with whipped topping made from scratch like grandma used to make.
